“I’m.mortal” just keeps getting better. First it was revealed that the movie would mark director Andrew Niccol’s return to sci-fi. Then Amanda Seyfried joined the cast, followed by Justin Timberlake (who is still in negotiations). Now, “Inception” actor Cillian Murphy is in “final negotiations” to join the cast as well, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The story is set in a future where the aging gene has been discovered and switched off. To prevent overpopulation, people now spend time the way we do money, on luxuries and necessities. Timberlake (if cast) will play a poor man who suddenly ends up with a fortune in time to spend. This leads to him becoming the target of a murder investigation; while on the run, he kidnaps a wealthy, young heiress (Seyfried). Murphy is up for a role playing an officer of the Timekeepers, which sounds like some sort of law enforcement body. Between Niccol and the cast that’s firming up, “I’m.mortal” is sounding like it’s going to be a good time.

Buried within a Deadline Hollywood story, which mainly dealt with Justin Timberlake and Elton John denying they have been offered a job as an American Idol, comes some intriguing film news. The site reported that Justin Timberlake has also been offered the lead role in the sci-fi film I’m.mortal.

We reported a few weeks back that actress Amanda Seyfried had won a lead role in the film and it seems Timberlake has been offered the other lead. The story takes place in a future where the aging gene has been eliminated and immortality is granted to those who can afford it, with “time” essentially becoming society’s currency. Seyfried’s character gets taken hostage by what would be Timberlake’s character, who murdered a man for his “time” and goes on the run.

Andrew Niccol is directing the film from his own script and it was previously said that the director is seeking actors in their mid-20s for the film. We’ll be sure to keep you posted with any further developments on the casting of I’m.mortal as soon as we have more information.

I’m.mortal comes to theaters in 2012 and stars Amanda Seyfried. The film is directed by Andrew Niccol.

Amanda Seyfried has accomplished a lot so far in her short career, and now she’s angling to stay young forever.

Variety reports that the Variety reports that the “Letters to Juliet” star will lead the cast of Andrew Niccol’s “I’m.mortal,” a sci-fi action thriller set in a world where people stop aging at 25. As was first reported back in April, people in this society treat time as currency; the more of your life’s time you “spend,” the more access you have to various necessities and luxuries.

Today’s Seyfried news is joined by a few more details about the story. A rebellious young man — not yet cast — is fingered for the murder of a member of society’s elite. He ends up on the run with a beautiful rich girl (Seyfried) in tow as his hostage. Regardless of the circumstances that initially bring them together, they end up taking on the system and finding love in the process.

Niccol is no stranger to thought-provoking science fiction. He made his debut as a writer/director in 1997 with “Gattaca,” the Ethan Hawke/ Jude Law/ Uma Thurman-starring thriller set in a future where humans are genetically modified for perfection while still in utero. He also wrote the Jim Carrey-starring flick “The Truman Show.” Both films feature a protagonist bucking unjust social conditions, and “I’m.mortal” certainly seems to be following suit on that front.

Seyfried plays a recurring character on the HBO series “Big Love.” She’s starred in two 2010 releases so far — “Dear John” and “Letters to Juliet” — and is set for the lead role in the 2011 fairy-tale “Red Riding Hood,” to be helmed by “Twilight” director Catherine Hardwicke.

Niccol hasn’t released a film since 2005, the Nicolas Cage-starring action thriller “Lord of War.” He’s currently at work on “The Cross,” an indie sci-fi project starring Orlando Bloom, Olga Kurylenko, Vincent Cassel and John Goodman. It was thought he’d follow that up with an adaptation of Stephenie Meyer’s “The Host,” but with the “I’m.mortal” cast starting to firm up, that may well come first.

I had no idea this youngish B list movie actress who has been in one movie after the other for the past year was so nice. Every day she is in town our actress goes to a coffee shop close to where she lives. Everyday she would see the same homeless man there asking for money. One day some guy kicked his cup and our actress stopped to help him pick up the change and they got to talking. From then on they would talk for a minute or two and she would give him a few dollars. She then heard his story and how he had ended up on the streets. Well, after about a month of this, our actress got him a job in the mail room of her agent, found him a place to live and gave him enough money to pay for his expenses for a few months while he was getting on his feet.

First up, Variety reports that Virginia Madsen has signed on to play Amanda Seyfried’s mother in the upcoming medieval thriller Red Riding Hood. Nothing new is being said about the Catherine Hardwicke film, nor anything specific about the role, but it’s just one more piece in an increasingly interesting puzzle. While it must just be more dark fare to follow in Twilight’s footsteps, you might remember that this project already has the likes of Julie Christie and Gary Oldman attached, not to mention Lukas Haas and Shiloh Fernandez. Now if only Hollywood could give Ms. Madsen roles that give her something other than parenting to do… But at least she’s in good company with this one.

Leonardo DiCaprio’s Appian Way banner is producing and he’s a producer along with Jennifer Davisson Killoran, Michael Ireland and Alex Mace. RED RIDING HOOD is scheduled to bow in theaters on March 11, 2011.

Disney are reportedly on track to make a live-action film of their classic Cinderella, and are lining up Amanda Seyfried to play the title role!

Amanda is apparently on board to play the rags to riches Disney princess.
A seven-figure sum is being paid to for the new version of the classic fairy tale cartoon, and will be scripted by Aline Brosh McKenna, who wrote 27 Dresses and The Devil Wears Prada.

Disney are supposedly shelling out a seven figure sum on the film which is surely guaranteed to be a box office success, even if it suffers a critical mauling.
Seyfried is also playing the titular Red Riding Hood in a new adaptation due for release in April next year.
